MATTY DAWSON-JONES BECOMES A BULL

BRADFORD Bulls are delighted to announce the signing of Hull FC star Matty Dawson-Jones on a one-year deal – having fought off Super League competition for his signature.

The 29-year-old put pen-to-paper on a deal that includes the option of a further twelve months - bringing vast experience from the sport’s top tier through spells at the Airlie Birds, Leigh Centurions and St Helens.

A prolific try-scorer, the versatile back joins the club as John Kear’s seventh new recruit for 2020 as his squad takes shape ahead of the start of the Betfred Championship season.

Dawson-Jones has hailed Kear as a huge factor in his decision to join the club – insisting he will give 100% to bring smiles to the faces of the Bradford Bulls faithful.

“I am over the moon to be a Bradford player – after a year out I needed to get back playing and to get interest from a club like the Bulls was massive,” said Dawson-Jones.

“Being able to work for a coach of John Kear’s stature too was a huge part of the decision – he is a top quality coach and working for him is a great opportunity for me to kickstart my career again.

“I have been around the block a bit now and had some experience in Super League but there is a great training facility at Tong which is a Super League quality facility.

“I am looking forward to getting in and getting started – hopefully I can help some of the younger lads but I can still learn as well, I can still develop my game.

“I will give 100% every week for supporters to try give them what they deserve and try get Bradford fighting for the top spots to get back into Super League.”

Head coach John Kear has spoken of his delight at securing Dawson-Jones for the year – insisting his arrival reflects a ‘statement of intent’ from the club.

“He is a quality recruit – he is a Super League player with extensive experience on the wing and in the centres and I am delighted he has agreed to join us,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“He will bring experience amongst our many exciting young players and what I like about him is he is willing to do the dirty work and put a good shift in – he is a very good finisher as well.

“It is a statement of intent because he is quality – quality players coming into what I feel is a quality club, into a quality squad and his signing represents another step forward.”

Matty could make his Bradford bow in Sunday’s final pre-season clash against James Ford’s York City Knights – CLICK HERE to book your ticket, alternatively – call us on 0333 323 5075 or visit the Team Shop.
