VACANCY - WELLBEING MANAGER

Vacancy – Wellbeing Manager
Role
At heart, the role of a Club Wellbeing Manager is to help all people within the organisation to flourish and reach their potential. A Wellbeing Manager helps people to understand that, as human beings, we are unable to fully switch off from life away from sport, when we come into work. The role is to help people to find solutions to challenges which they may be facing, both inside of the game and away from the game. There should be no sense of judgement, and every individual should be treated with respect and with confidentiality.
There are times when a solution cannot be found, but providing a safe place for a listening ear can be enough to help people find a place of perspective and hope. Wellbeing Managers should be qualified to Level 3 in Person Centred Counselling, Adult Mental Health Aware, UKAD Introduction to Clean Sport, Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Enhanced DBS certification and should be skilled in networking and signposting to relevant organisations.
They don’t need to have all of the answers but should be comfortable to refer to RL Cares and other organisations in order to help their players and staff to access the best possible support.
The role includes:
· Regular one to one conversations with players and staff, to develop the relationship of being a friendly professional, where people feel safe to speak about their experiences and emotions.
· Helping players and staff to develop dual careers, where they have a plan for a job role alongside, and after rugby league.
· Conclude an exit interview for players coming off contract, leaving for the NRL, or announcing their retirement, to track player movement
· Encouraging and facilitating players and staff to access appropriate training courses to enable them to reach their career goals.
· Liaising with, and referring to, relevant support agencies for players and staff to access the support which they may need.
· Having regular clinical supervision throughout the year
· Encouraging and enabling players and staff to access financial support, to have a clear financial plan in place for themselves and their families.
· Supporting player and staff families to settle within the Club, and to grow a strong network for families to grow in relationship with one another.
· Actively engage with our past players association
· Smoothing the transition process for players, as they move through each squad within the Club, and on into life after sport.
· Develop a wellbeing team, where each different squad has a point of contact with the Wellbeing provision within the Club.
· Develop strong relationships with the Club Chaplain, to ensure that the spiritual side of life is also catered for.
· Host regular meetings for a Pastoral Management Group within the Club, to ensure that Wellbeing is embedded across the organisation.
- Understanding of and interest in the sport of Rugby League.
- As Designated Safeguarding Lead you will act as first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns, providing guidance and support to players and staff
- The DSL plays a vital role in creating a safe environment for young people, and must have the necessary training and knowledge to fulfil this responsibility
· Attend quarterly meetings with RL Cares and Wellbeing Managers from across the sport.
· Complete a quarterly, and annual audit, as provided by RL Cares, to quantify wellbeing provision and benchmark against the other clubs within the sport.
· Ensure that Athlete Wellbeing Software is kept up to date, to enable RL Cares to provide accountability across the sport, to support safeguarding policies and procedures, and to support good record keeping within your individual club.
