SUPER SAM PENS NEW DEAL

Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce Sam Hallas has signed a new one-year deal with the club!

The boyhood Bradford fan is in his third spell donning the red, amber and black. Having initially joined on loan in 2017, Hallas remained a Bull until a brief spell with Newcastle in 2022.

The 28-year-old returned for the remainder of the 2022 season before joining Hunslet in 2023. Hallas then signed a two-year deal to re-join the Bulls ahead of the 2024 season.

‘Super Sam’ has made 154 appearances for the club to date, scoring 22 tries – with the versatile forward playing an important role with the Bulls securing a third consecutive third-placed finish.

Hallas, who is sponsored by Martin, Ros and Ric Tonks, said:

“I’m buzzing, it's a deal I wanted to get done as soon as possible and as soon as I got word that they wanted to keep me, I was excited. Jason [Hirst] and Nobby [Brian Noble] have been brilliant with it, I spoke to Jason a lot and we managed to get it done, I'm excited and I'm excited to see what the future holds.

“My time here since I first joined has been I think it's fair to say it's been a rollercoaster. Highs and lows, I think all the sort of cliches that go with it but I've loved it, I've loved every minute, every player I've played with and every player I'm yet to play with as well. It's been exciting but I think the most exciting times are yet to come.

“Everything feels like it's trending in the right direction so we'll have to see where the club ends up but on the field we're doing everything we can. It was tough to miss out on the 1895 Cup but hopefully we can go as far as we can in the play offs.

“There’s no secret about it, the club wants to be a Super League club and I think it's been the case all the time I've been here. I just want to carry on doing everything I can to help us get there and as long as we can keep playing well on the field we'll give ourselves every chance.

“It means everything, since I was a kid I used to come down here and watched in the hey day when Brian was first here and watching all the legends play and pull on the shirt before me. Then to come from Leeds all them years ago, I remember when Brian McDermott told me that I'd be going on loan to Bradford and I got really excited because this is where I wanted to play my rugby.

“I remember being stood on the terraces as a kid singing all the songs, when it was like Lesley Vainikolo, Shontayne Hape, Robbie and Henry Paul, we had some great players. To hear my name sung, it does mean the world to me. I was a Bradford fan growing up, and I'm not getting any younger so as long as I keep pulling this shirt on, I'll keep doing everything I can for it.

“I don't want to be anywhere else, and this club means the world to me. It's a really special club and every 80 minutes that I play, I’ll give it everything I've got.”

Head coach Brian Noble, who is sponsored by Paints & Lacquers, said:

“It’s important you keep some muscle memory and DNA of this place and there is no finer example of that than Sam Hallas. When Sam is on, he’s as good as any player we have got and he knows that. It’s exciting for him and the club that we have retained his services.”
