BULLS TAKE GIANT STEP FORWARD

Bradford Bulls made it two wins out of two in pre-season with a commanding 28-14 victory over Super League outfit Huddersfield Giants this afternoon.

Bayley Liu made his first appearance in the red, amber and black off the interchange bench – with Zac Fulton, Sam Hallas, Tom Holmes, Jordan Lilley, James Donaldson and Michael Lawrence all making their first run outs before the competitive action begins. 

A dominant start from the Bulls was rewarded in familiar fashion. James Meadows’ deft kick into the corner was collected by a leaping Jayden Okunbor who finished superbly. 

Bradford extended their advantage at the end of the first quarter, the boot of Joe Keyes this time causing problems for Huddersfield with Tom Holmes feeding Mitch Souter for a score by the posts. 

A flowing move between hands from inside our own half saw Waqa Blake cap an impressive individual display with a score. The Bulls kept the ball alive well and Blake fed Okunbor, who raced down the wing before handing the ball back to the centre to score. 

Bradford continued to press but despite the Giants being temporarily reduced to 12 men due to a sin binning, the home side would get on the scoreboard with half-time looming via an intercept from 80 metres. 

The second half saw both sides ring the changes and Huddersfield would reduce the deficit further before the hour mark with Oliver Wilson barging his way over from close range. 

The Bulls went back-to-back to take the game away from the home side, Bayley Liu scoring on debut with a powerful effort from a scrum before Kieran Gill scoring after an impressive break from Matty Gee. 

Leo Ward’s diving effort in the final ten minutes provided Luke Robinson’s side with a consolation try.
