BULLS SIGN GEE ON TWO YEAR DEAL
Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce the signing of experienced back row forward Matty Gee on a two-year deal from the start of the 2025 season.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed spells in Super League with Salford Red Devils, London Broncos, Hull KR and Leigh Centurions prior to his most recent venture in the Championship with Halifax Panthers.
Wigan-born Gee emerged as a key player in the Panthers’ play-off finishes in recent years, alongside their AB Sundecks 1895 Cup triumph in 2023 – and joins Joe Keyes in making the switch from Halifax to Bradford next term.
Gee has spoken of his excitement at joining the Bulls and working with head coach Eamon O’Carroll – insisting it was an easy decision to make.
“I’m buzzing, joining a club with the history it has got and the team it has got, once I got talking to Freddy [Eamon O’Carroll] it was an easy decision and the deal got done pretty quick,” said Gee.
“It seems like a really tight knit group, I like the values and the way Eamon likes to play. The players clearly like playing for him so that’s something I wanted to be involved in.
“I will bring hard work and hopefully I can help the team the best I can and do anything I can for the boys.
“It’s always nice when another coach wants to sign you and that is another reason why it was such an easy decision. Hearing his thoughts and what he wants from his players, it fits right with me.
“I have been on the other side of the supporters a few times especially in the derby! It will be nice to be on their side for a change, they always come out in numbers and are really loud so I am looking forward to it.”
Bradford boss Eamon O’Carroll has spoken of his delight at capturing Gee – one of the competition’s ‘best back rowers’ who he has admired for a while.
“I’m really happy to bring in someone of the quality of Matty, who I believe is one of the best back rowers in the competition,” said O’Carroll, who is sponsored by M & S Combustion Ltd.
“I’ve been a fan of his for a number of years. He’s got great experience in both Super League and Championship, and will bring a high level of professionalism and work ethic.
“Matty is fully aware of the expectation and what we are trying to do here and he is fully on board to help us achieve our goals moving forward. I look forward to welcoming him and his family to our club.”
