SCHOLARS BATTLE IN GIANTS DEFEAT

Bradford Bulls Scholarship – which included a number of debutants from our Under-15s – produced a battling display in a 32-18 defeat against Huddersfield Giants last night.

The visitors got off to a fast start and three quick fire scores saw them 16-0 up in the opening quarter.

Jude Jackson nipped over from dummy half before a powerful, driving effort from Lewis Bottomley soon after.

A neat move through hands then sent Austin Byrne over on the right edge before the Bradford fightback began.

The first real spell of pressure saw the Bulls camped on the Giants’ line and Tom Glover showed great footwork and athleticism to see off two would-be defenders to score under the posts.

Buoyed by the score, Bradford soon reduced the deficit further. Charlie Przybyl latched onto a loose ball, following a charge down, and raced home from 40 metres.

An error from the restart handed Huddersfield the initiative back and they took advantage of the field position through Stanley Hobson.

The Young Bulls got off to the perfect start in the second half when a slick move sent Dylan Keenan over.

Despite enjoying plenty of territory, Martyn Oxbury’s side couldn’t add to their tally and two late tries from Finley Gale and Jovi Bentley Elliot secured the spoils for Huddersfield.
