BULLS COMPLETE RAM RAID

Bradford Bulls made a winning start to their 2024 AB Sundecks 1895 Cup campaign with a 40-4 win over Dewsbury Rams this afternoon.

The Bulls got off to the perfect start when Jordan Lilley and Kieran Gill combined on four minutes, with the latter touching down.

Dewsbury responded with a spell of pressure but couldn’t break through the Bradford defence.

Ben Blackmore was then helped from the field following an illegal tackle around the legs, with Ronan Dixon being sent to the sin bin for the offence.

Bradford capitalised on the numerical advantage by scoring three tries in quick succession – Joe Arundel, fresh on the field having replaced Blackmore, raced down the right hand side to score.

Soon after, Ebon Scurr crashed over from close range following a lovely cut out pass on the Dewsbury line from Mitch Souter.

Jayden Myers then got in on the act, swatting off two would be Dewsbury defenders to touch down on the right edge.

The home side would get on the scoreboard through a try from Perry Whiteley but it didn’t take long for the Bulls to hit their straps once more.

Taufua went on a slaloming run from the left side to score his first of the season before Souter got on the scoresheet on the back of a superb offload from Lee Gaskell.

The Bulls started the second half in the same vein they started the first and Taufua quickly grabbed his second with a superb finish under pressure in the corner.

Aidan McGowan then got a debut try from a well-worked set play from the base of a scrum.

Bradford also lost Ebon Scurr to injury but the scores remained the same to kickstart the Eamon O’Carroll era with victory.
