GOLDEN POINT DRAMA IN ACADEMY THRILLER

Bradford Bulls Academy rounded off 2022 with a Golden Point victory over Wakefield Trinity! - A huge second half comeback paving the way for the win!

Leigh Beattie’s academy side came into their final game of the season looking for a victory to round off a successful 2022 but found themselves behind early on.

The visitors found a gap underneath the posts and took full advantage as they raced home to touch down.

Wakefield doubled their advantage soon after, as another gap in the defence saw them score in a disappointing first 20 for Bradford.

Trinity would then extend the lead, as Bradford couldn’t stop the pressure from the visitors, the Bulls markers were caught at play the ball and the space allowed Wakefield to score.

Joseph Kellett then burst through a gap in the Trinity defence, to slide over and grab our first points, although Wakefield would score again before the break.

After the break, Trinity caught us cold again from dummy-half, with a barge over try extending their lead, however this would be their last score.

Harry Walker grabbed his first of the evening, racing home after smart play down the right-hand side.

At the time, it looked to be mere consolation for Leigh Beattie’s men, but they weren’t to be distracted by the scoreboard.

Debutant from the Scholarship Connor Sayner raced down the wing and managed to score in the corner, a lovely moment for the winger.

Wakefield and Bradford were then both reduced to 11 men, with both sides seeing yellow cards for off the ball incidents.

This, in fact helped Bradford however, as a combination of Todd Horner and Harry Walker with his second levelled proceedings with seconds to go.

The game ran into Golden Point and with Wakefield panicking, they gave away a six again and allowed us field position.

George Flanagan Jr then stepped up and landed a monster 40m drop goal to seal the victory for Leigh Beattie’s 2022 Academy in dramatic fashion.

Thanks to everyone connected to the Academy for their hard work and dedication in 2022!
