WOMEN CLAIM FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Bradford Bulls women claimed their first win of the season with a win over Leigh Miners Rangers, a last gasp try from Alice Fisher claiming the points.

Bradford Bulls women claimed their first win of the season with a win over Leigh Miners Rangers, a last gasp try from Alice Fisher claiming the points.

 Both defences were on top early on, as Bradford withstood early pressure from the visitors.

 Leigh Miners Rangers then took the lead, as Robyn Bell-Soppelsa crashed over, before Shaun Flynn’s men hit back through Katie Whelan.

 Lily Willams then handed Bradford the lead, before Leigh levelled the scores as Robyn Bell-Soppelsa cut inside to score her second.

 After lengthy stoppages for injuries, Alice Fisher then went for the corner and found her way over to seal the win.

 Shaun Flynn named his team, looking for their first win of the season after last week’s defeat to Featherstone, as he brought in Jamie Leigh-Scott.

 The Bradford defence stood firm early on, as Leigh Miners Rangers had consecutive sets, but couldn’t find a way through.

 They did however, as Bell-Soppelsa managed to score despite the attention of Bradford defenders, in the corner.

 Leigh weren’t in front for long, as Katie Whelan touched down in the corner, for the first try for the women’s team of the afternoon.

 After the break, winger Williams Powell sent the ball out to Williams who forced her way over to give Shan Flynn’s side the lead.

 Leigh hit back, as Bell-Soppelsa grabbed her second of the afternoon, before Fisher sealed the game with minutes remaining.
