BRADFORD BEAT OLDHAM WITH NINE TRY BLITZ
BRADFORD Bulls made it back-to-back victories as they ran in nine tries to beat Oldham RLFC 54-22 at Bower Fold yesterday afternoon.
A fast start saw Bradford score on their first foray into Oldham territory – Dee Foggin-Johnston touching down before the first of three for half back Joe Keyes.
Brandon Pickersgill got in on the act soon after following neat interplay on the right before Keyes’ second.
Keyes grabbed his hat-trick soon after the interval before stand-in half-back Joe Brown got the try his performance deserved.
Oldham grabbed a couple of scores in reply before Rhys Evans opened his 2021 account – which preceded Pickersgill’s second effort.
Brad England barged his way over for his third try of the campaign before two late consolation tries for the home side.
John Kear reshuffled his pack following the injury to Jordan Lilley, bringing in Reece Hamlett and David Foggin-Johnston, as Joe Brown moved into the halves to partner Joe Keyes.
The partnership was off to a flying start, as Keyes fed Pickersgill to float a ball out to Foggin-Johnston, who marked his return with a try.
Bradford then went back-to-back, as Keyes darted over, with Pickersgill then following up with one of his own as Bradford started to take control.
Keyes, then fooled the whole Oldham defence for a stroll in, adding a second to his game tally in an explosive first half for John Kear’s men.
As the hooter sounded, a penalty allowed Keyes to add on an extra two, sealing the game as early as half time.
After the break, Keyes rounded off a superb individual performance with a third try, with his halfback partner Brown following up shortly after with another try.
Hartley then crossed for the home side’s first of the afternoon, as the winger went over in the corner.
They then crossed again, through Reilly who barged over from close range, although it was only to be consolation.
Bradford turned on the style once again, scoring back-to-back tries through Rhys Evans and Pickersgill, the former with his first of the season.
Brad England then crossed, for his second try in consecutive games as Bradford hit the half century for the first time this season.
Dan Abram and Tyler Dupree crossed for Oldham for the final tries of the game, but it wasn’t to dampen Bradford spirits as they run out comfortable winners recording their second straight victory.
