ACADEMY IN NARROW TRINITY DEFEAT

BRADFORD Bulls Academy narrowly lost out to Wakefield Trinity Academy in a close encounter, eventually going down 6-16 to the Super League side.

In a first half in which only four points were scored, Bradford tested the Wakefield defence early on, but couldn’t find a way through.

The opening score then followed, as Oli Farrar then crossed to hand Trinity the advantage.

Before the break, David Kamano broke the Wakefield line to go close, but a knock on over the line prevented Bradford drawing level.

Two quick scores after the interval, one from Wakefield and one from Bradford then but the game back within reach.

Sam Eseh barged his way over for Trinity, before Kamano got a try that his performance deserved.

After Daniel McGrath had a try ruled out, Luke Mearns sealed the win for Wakefield after a valiant effort for the Bradford Bulls Academy.

Head of Youth Leigh Beattie welcomed back a number of his players for this clash against Wakefield Trinity after successive defeats.

The game started off slowly, with both sides testing each other out but not being able to find the opening score.

The impressive Kamano, who broke the line on a number of occasions, then found his way over the line but couldn’t take the ball to score.

Smart play from the visitors on Bradford’s line then allowed Farrar to burst over and touch down, scoring the only try of the first half.

After the interval, the towering prop Sam Eseh then spun his way past two Bradford defenders to touch down, handing Trinity a 10 point lead.

Kamano then reduced the arrears, finding his way over after good play from Myles Lawford.

A controversial moment arose soon after, McGrath sprinted the length of the field and a try was awarded, only for the referee to take play all the way back for a foot in touch.

Mearns then touched down on the set Wakefield were awarded, condemning Bradford to defeat despite a battling display.
